An all-time favourite among lunchtime photo-facials, IPL (more correctly called Flash lamps) uses filtered non-coherent light to selectively destroy melanin-laden cells, blood-filled capillaries and hair roots in a process called Selective Photothermolysis. Understanding how the different chromospheres absorb light has spawned a whole new field we now call "photo-rejuvenation."
We are now able to use this technology to remove pigmentation, remove superficial capillaries and provide long lasting hair reduction. Also, recent studies have confirmed the efficacy of flash lamps in activating blood-circulation, killing acne-causing bacteria as well as stimulating new collagen production.
The number of treatments depends on the patient’s condition and the expected results to be achieved. Usually, 5 to 8 monthly sessions are required.
