Face and neck lifts, otherwise known as Rhytidectomy, can reduce sagging skin, correct deep and sunken cheek grooves, and lift jowls on the face and neck, thereby helping these areas appear more youthful, firmer and rejuvenated.
The surgeon performs a facelift operation one side at a time, working through incisions that are placed in the hairline, as well as in the front edge and behind the ears. When they heal well, the incisions are almost invisible.
Most of your scars will be hidden within the hairline or within normal lines and ceases in front of and behind the ears.
During the procedure, excess skin is removed and repositioned, and some deeper tissues may be tightened.
A full face and neck lift procedure may be performed under general anaesthesia and normally requires an overnight hospital stay. You may experience some mild swelling, light bruising and a tightness or numbness over some parts of the face and neck. This effect is temporary.
* Healing takes time and is gradual, so be patient and expect to wait several months for optimal results. Since your skin will remain sensitive for a few months, protection from the sun is recommended. Use sun block daily. Make-up can be worn a week or so after a facelift surgery.
