What is an attractive nose?
Quite simply, it is a nose that fits your face. It is a natural-looking nose that achieves a harmonious balance with your other facial features.
If you feel that your nose is not a good fit, you may benefit from rhinoplasty, which is cosmetic surgery of the nose. Rhinoplasty can enhance the shape, size and general appearance of your nose which will then result in a harmonious balance with the rest of your face. The technique used for this procedure depends not only on your surgeon's preferences, but also on your desired results.
Alterations may be made to increase or decrease the nasal bridge, reduce the size or the width of the nose, narrow the nostrils, reshape the tip or change the angle between the nose and the upper lip.
Your surgeon may perform rhinoplasty from within the nose, making the incision inside the nostrils. This is called a "closed rhinoplasty". Other times, your surgeon may prefer an "open" procedure, in which a small incision is made across the columella, the vertical strip of tissue separating the nostrils, as well as within the nose. Working through these incisions, the framework of bone and cartilage is easily visible and can be sculpted to the desired shape.
Nose surgery can be performed as an outpatient procedure under local or general anaesthesia. Following surgery, you may have some gauze packing inside the nose, but they are usually removed the next day. You may be required to wear a splint on your nose for approximately a week or longer. Some bruising and swelling can be expected but they will subside after a week or two.
It may take several months for your nose to fully settle.... so reserve judgment until that time.
